KHD-PC1
- Cappella - cobalt blue on natural oak wood - "PROFESSIONAL PERCUSSION
PETER CRISS KISS" in type. Note the different font types for
"PROFESSIONAL", " PERCUSSION" AND " PETER CRISS KISS".
|
|
Note:
Professional Percussion was a music store off Broadway in the music
district in New York City. They have been out of business for
over 10 years now. Professional Percussion contracted
Cappella to make and print sticks for many artists, including
. They were
just standard sticks bought by Professional Percussion and imprinted
with Peter Criss's name.

UNM-EC1 - Ludwig 5B generic sticks - blue on
natural wood. (Note: This exact stick was
used 7/25/80 at the Palladium in NYC during Eric's very first show.
This stick comes from the collection of renowned early collector, Vinny
Gonzales.)
|
|

|
|
UNM-EC2
- Ludwig 2B generic sticks - blue on natural wood - (Note:
this one hand signed by Eric)
|
|
Note: Eric
did not have a drumstick endorsement for his first tour. However, he
did have a drum endorsement with Ludwig, who supplied him with generic
models of their sticks for the tour. He tried a variety of
sizes including 2B, 5B and 1S.

1981 ELDER (recording sessions)

|
|
ELD-EC1
- Manny's 5B - blue print on natural wood. (Supposedly
used during the studio sessions for recording The Elder. The album was
not toured except for a brief three song appearance on the TV show
"Friday's".)
|
|
Note:
Manny's Music is a well known musical instrument store in NYC,
who incidentally are now owned by Sam Ash. I received this photo a few
years ago from a friend that bought them from Vinny Gonzales.
When I obtained one of Eric's road cases, there was a Manny's shopping
bag inside!

Note:
Rug Caddy, an L.A. based company owned by Beato (who were making drum gloves for
Eric) were trying to get Eric to also buy their new line of Canadian
maple drumsticks. But these were too light and too soft and
Eric snapped them like twigs.
|
|
|
|

Eric also used this type of drumstick during the
taping of the ABC TV show Friday's.

|
Notes:
Although all the sticks I have seen from Animalize are Pro-Marks,
Calato told me they continued to make Regal Tip sticks for Eric during
these years, but I do not have any information on what they looked
like. Based on a photo someone sent me and what I received in my road
case, I am assuming he used generic Calatos because of his Pro-Mark
contract. But that is just a guess.
|
|
Also, both Pro-Mark
and Eric's drum tech confirmed he also used Pro-Mark 2B
sticks. I do not have much information on what they looked
like, although I did receive a report from someone who received one at
the Phoenix, AZ show and she said it was a generic Pro-Mark stick (no
name or logo) that has the same colorings as the 5B shown above.
